Overview

Ki Mobility's whole Catalyst line offers a Dual Interlocking Cross Brace. This design creates a frame that locks together so that it minimizes unwanted movement and maximizes the energy transferred in each of your pushes making your push as efficient as possible. The “Between-The-Rails” Seat Design has the seat frame tubing setting side-by-side rather than stacking them atop one another. So instead of the weight of the user resting on the cross brace, the weight is transferred to the side frames. This prevents having to use heavy cross braces which add weight to the wheelchair.

Even how the Catalyst 4C folds and unfolds is unique. A Power X-Hinge is an extending link from the frame to the cross brace that expands and contracts when the frame is opening or closing. Another benefit of the Power X-Hinge is how it improves the frame’s structural integrity. The extending link provides the frame’s strength and rigidity rather than the seat upholstery.

Not to be forgotten are Ki Mobility’s one of a kind legrests. The legrests can be mounted or removed from any angle. No need to rotate all the way or all the way out like those found on other wheelchairs.

What Makes This Different
The Catalyst 4C has all the features that separate you get from the Catalyst 4 but offers a much wider range of seat widths and depths as well as a cross brace that easily accommodates seating systems and positioning aids. A removable solid seat pan can be added for those needing a more supportive base for their cushion. As with the Catalyst 4, the 4C features the offset axle. The axle plate is mounted 1-1/2” forward to the axle position of similar wheelchairs from other manufacturers. By positioning the axle plate in this fashion, the Catalyst 4C can greatly improve your push efficiency. The design of the simple axle plate allows for easy vertical adjustments in 5 different positions. For those wanting or needing greater rearward stability, the axle plate can be reversed. You also get the rear wheel options of Ki’s own Maxx Performance Spoke which gives you a highly rigid and responsive ride that gives you the most roll for every push you give it. If you prefer mag wheels to spoke wheels, the Catalyst 4C also offers X-Core’s lightweight and stylish mag wheels. The X-Core mag wheels provide greater stiffness and a more rigid ride than traditional mag wheels.

Why We Like It
The Catalyst 4C offers a great range of options for an affordably priced lightweight wheelchair. The 4C can accommodate seat widths from 14” to 22” and seat depths from 14” to 20”. Seat heights are available from 13.5” to 21”. This means the Catalyst 4C can be a great wheelchair for everyone from a shorter user who propels with their feet to the taller user who prefers to push with their hands. A special cross brace is available to easily adapt to specialty seating. The 4C also can be built with a removable aluminum solid seat so complex seating can be provided while still permitting the wheelchair to fold for easy transport. The Catalyst 4C is a great option whether you need a basic lightweight wheelchair or a lightweight wheelchair capable of meeting unique body types or special needs.
